italian work (click on thumbnails)
in september of 2008 i did an artist residency at palazzo rinaldi in noepoli, italy and also spent time in rome. this work was inspired from that trip. .
I was fortunate to be there during the change of season, where the sunny days of summer were disappearing into the rainy days of autumn. It was never the same landscape twice. The pieces have a reference point of image but are derived from the memories of the place.
The series of postcards were created as a sort of travel memento where you can hold on to the place. The small plaster and canvas paintings are of a handheld size and have an artifact feel to them. The work is small in size so as to create a sense of intimacy and immediacy with the viewer. they are oil and soft pastels.
more work that was a result of the residency can be found under 2009/2010 work.
